Behrends, the vet on TV got Walz' slot in the Guard after Walz retired, has been out and about calling him a traitor and a liar.
Specifically he saying that Walz lied about leaving the National Guard to work on his first congressional race, and that somehow Walz owed more than the 20 years of service required for retirement. Walz enters the race 2/10/2005. Retired in March 2005, His unit got orders for Iraq July 2005. Walz retired as a provisional CSM but didn't do a required class afterwards and so was returned to rank of Master Sgt after retirement. It's bad of the Harris campaign to have called him a CSM, but thats it.
Because it's not like he wasn't one while active. He was in fact a CSM, did not get the rank permanently secured due to not taking a class after retirement, probably due to the time conflict of running for congress.
